Our friend and colleague Richard, passed away suddenly on the 26th April 2019.
Richard’s career in the finance industry spanned 52 years starting as a Bank Official with the Belfast Banking Company. Richard had a flare for finance and during his long and incredibly successful career he quickly made his mark wherever he went; winning and developing new business and growing and leading teams of individuals. Throughout his career he gained experience at senior level within agricultural, construction, materials handling, and commercial vehicle finance sectors. He had a deep knowledge of both vendor and direct driven business across a wide variety of sectors but in particular over the last 12 years the agricultural sector.
Richard spent 20 years working within the Barclays Banking Group and 11 years in a National Sales Manager role with both GrowHow Finance and ING Lease UK Ltd. After a stint with Hitachi Capital, Richard joined Business Finance Brokers Ltd as a Director in January 2015, heading up the farm inputs side of the business, Richard retained the business relationships with suppliers and customers he had developed over the years which enabled his business to grow year on year, winning Broker of the Year for the Company on more than one occasion.
Richard was an extremely charismatic, warm hearted people person, full of his natural Irish charm, filling a room with fun and laughter. He had time for everyone and always had a good story to tell.
It will be very difficult to fill his shoes but, in his honour, we will have a damned good go. Richard was a truly fantastic friend and colleague; it has been a privilege to have known and worked with him.
